Let the cake smash begin!

In September my daughter turned one year old, so I thought we should celebrate with a cake smash! I have not done these sessions before, and frankly, never thought of doing / offering them, but we had a lot of fun! It was messy, it was pretty, it was sweet! My light diffusers were covered in buttery icing, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Eva wasn’t too convinced about the cake at first. It’s not often she gets the chance to have sweets, never mind a giant, cream covered muffin all to herself, but this was her lucky day. She looked at me for about 5 minutes, and I slowly started to lose hope she would ever get into the “smash” bit, but then suddenly she decided to put her foot into it first. It must have felt lovely, and soft, as her hands followed shortly after, and she was in!

I didn’t know what to expect. Would she grab a bit of her cake and go after me? Would she start running around, covered in icing? Safe to say Eva found the stickiness of her cake amusing.

We totally forgot we would need to wash the cake off her at some point! Needless to say I’m currently on the lookout for a suitable bath to use during any future cake smash sessions. 😀

I think Eva was pretty pleased with her cake. Thank you Cupcake Days for making it super delicious! xx
