15 Things that make you a professional children’s photographer

  1. If you ever tried to “fix” finger marks on your screen with a patch tool, because they looked like a smudge on a photo, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  2. If your wardrobe consists mostly of black leggings, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  3. If any story your friends have about their life can be turned into something photography related, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  4. If you ever wanted to come up to a random kid on the street and ask their parents to bring them to your studio for a model call, only to use their face in your portfolio later, because they look like Meg Bitton’s models, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  5. If you find every dilapidated barn and doors beautiful, and you collect old, scruffy boards from your neighbours’ yards, because they would make an amazing backdrop, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  6. If your favourite colour is 18% grey, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  7. If you cannot simply take your kids to the park, without 70-200mm, to then store those photos in RAW format on two hard drives, never to be edited again, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  8. If your kids hate having their pictures taken, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  9. If the first thought you have when getting pregnant is: “oh, I won’t have to do a model call for those newborn outfits I want to photograph”, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  10. If you justify any spendings with: “that’s only 2 sessions”, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  11. If you smirk at “regular people” with DSLRs with a kit lens attached, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  12. If you watch a movie and cannot stop judging the accuracy of the white balance, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  13. If the only celebrities you recognise are the ones, who are currently pregnant, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  14. If you despise paying £30 for a fancy dress for your toddler, but don’t batter an eyelid on a £130 toddler dress from Mii Estilo, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
  15. If you have your camera within arm’s reach when reading this, you may be a professional children’s photographer.
