I always seem to miss all the good stuff. There are plenty of workshops advertised everywhere and I see a lot of them in my news feed, yet when I am after anything particular, I don’t know where to turn to, so decided to put a few of those all in one place. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned photographer looking to expand your skill set, I hope you find this useful.
The closest one date wise is a lighting and posing training from Gary Hill on the 10th of March in his studio in Preston. Gary will cover lighting, posing and editing of colour and black and white images. G will also be running a workshop focusing solely on black and white portraits, from concept, shooting, lighting, to editing beautiful monochrome conversions. This will take place at Weston-super-mare studio on Friday, 23rd March (10am-5pm) and it’s only £225 per person.
On the 11th of April, the amazing business coach Nina Mace will be running her Business and Marketing workshop in York. The day will cover all elements of Marketing and Business from website to pricing. This is a hands-on day (maximum 6 people) where you will work on an individual action plan customised for your needs. You will work through SEO, Google +, Facebook targeting, getting to know your perfect customer, pricing strategy and communication but it will be in detail and you will make real decisions about what you need to change and by when. I highly recommend Nina’s training as she is above and beyond all other business trainings out there, as she practices what she preaches. Providing you follow the advice and implement all the information, you will see a tangible increase in your incoming leads.
Nina will also be running this training in Lincoln on the 12th April. All the information about the business and marketing workshop in Lincoln can be found on her website. Both dates are currently running at £349, which is a great price for all you will get out of it.
Emma Jane of Little Love Photography is travelling across UK this summer with her posing workshops available at a crazy affordable price. Get your hands on those while you can, before she realises she should be charging double for those. On top of being a great newborn poser, she is actually a bloody nice person too.
At the time of writing this, there were only a few remaining places available: 6th April in Essex, 21st June in Suffolk, 30th June in Newcastle, 13th July Stoke-on-Trent, 25th and 26th July in Manchester. After this tour, she will no doubt realise she needs to charge more, so get your skills upgraded asap.
Multi award winning photographer, Magdalena Sienicka will be running a one day fine art workshop at her studio in Kettering on the 24th June. Maximum group size for the day will be 8 attendees and the overall cost per person is only £400.
The maternity photography queen, Natasha Ince, will be running two day workshops in her studio in Dudley on the 11th June (newborn posing and editing) and 12th June (maternity posing and editing). She will also travel to Northern Ireland to run a maternity workshop on the 28th August and on the 1st October she will visit Scotland again for more maternity posing and editing. On the 17th July she will be coming to Kent to teach maternity posing and editing too! There are a few places left between those dates and they haven’t even been advertised yet, so get in touch with Natasha to secure yours.
If you already trained with Natasha, why not treat yourself to a workshop with the mind-blowing Lola Melani, who will be flying from New York to run a workshop in London (Finchley) on the 18th of September. She is incredible, and her elegant maternity images are constantly an inspiration for many maternity photographers. The cost of the masterclass is $1700, but if you know her work, you won’t batter an eyelid at the price. She is magnificent.
Karina Kiel, famous child photographer from Russia, will be running two day training on the 15th and 16th May (Tuesday and Wednesday) in Basildon. Join the Facebook group to find out more. Make sure to check out Karina’s Instagram. Only £650 for two days.
Magdalena Berny will be running two day masterclass in Edinburgh on the 8th and 9th September. Price for 2 days workshop is: £720, and includes – 2 days Masterclass, 2 lunches and snacks during the days, dinner and B&B. In Person Sales for Photographers + SEO training with Maggie Robinson and Cathal Saunders of Conversion Marketing. All you need to know to successfully sell wall art and to run a profitable In Person Sales. From client consultation, to pricing and the psychology of sales, practical tips on how to deal with every objection and increase your average spend. More details on what’s covered in the IPS part of the training can be viewed on the website. The SEO part will cover improving your Google rankings and online visibility. There are currently two dates with available spaces for this training taking part in Sheffield: 7th April and 7th July. The price for this day is £349 per person, with a maximum of 10 attendees.
In Person Sales with Maggie Robinson will make it’s way to Ireland too (14th April, Saturday). This day will consists of subjects ranging from consultation to wall art sales, pricing for wall art, sales psychology, the anatomy of a successful IPS meeting and much much more. If you feel haven’t experienced the Lisa Effect yet, get yourself booked in for an outdoor child photography workshop with Lisa McCormick. I don’t have to introduce Lisa. She creates the beautiful, dreamy, vibrant outdoor photographs we all want to put on the wall. Lisa is pants at updating her website though, so it’s really hard to pin down her upcoming workshops, so here is your list for her spring / summer: 19th April in Essex, 16th August in Lincolnshire, and 21st September in Wales (Abergavenny) The overall cost per person is £275, with 10 attendees maximum each day.
You can never get enough of outdoor training, especially if like me, you cannot nail the stunning outdoor magic every time. I would definitely recommend checking out this amazing and very affordable outdoor workshop run by the multi award winning photographer of the year, Kristina Vanagaite. Two day training 24th-25th of March in Surrey, will cover shooting and editing Kristina’s signature golden hour images, finding location, seeing the light her way, styling, posing, painting with light, creating depth of field and more. This training is looking rather amazing.
One of the best newborn posing trainers in UK, Natalie Leech, has just added a new date to her workshop schedule. On the 1st July she will be running a training day at her studio in Glossop. The maximum number of attendees on the day is 5, allowing for intimate atmosphere and maximised learning. The day will cover studio light, beanbag and prop posing workflow and editing. Full cost of the workshop is £425 per person. Brilliant opportunity to nail your posing if you are still struggling with straightening those pesky fingers, getting to grips with bum up and learning the tricks of the trade from one of Britain’s best newborn trainers.
