This time last year I posted on my Facebook a small, shy, status update, asking whether anyone knows of any expecting mums or any newborn babies that were born very recently. I was fresh from my training with Russ Jackson, and I felt ready to take my hobby to the next level. I wanted to become a professional newborn photographer.
Never in my dreams did I expect that this year is going to be a turning point in my life. In no way financially but for the first time I was actually waking up to a “job” I really enjoyed, from beginning to the end. From shooting, down to editing and “pixel pushing”, as my husband calls it.
In this short time I amassed a large portfolio of photos featuring beautiful, little sausages, sleeping peacefully in my overpriced, rustic props, wrapped in layers of wool, or just as they are, bare and beautiful.
My little models grew up and went through the usual milestones: raising their head, back to belly roll, sitting up unsupported.. You guys wanted to capture those milestones, so we gladly obliged and introduced sitters sessions for babies who can sit up unsupported. Those soon became our best seller and tens of gorgeous, chubby tykes flooded my tiny space, filling it with laughter, cheeky smiles, and occasional poop here and there.
My models reached their first birthday, and cake smash and splash sessions followed.
Today I am booked 3 months in front, with tons of lovely, heart melting reviews, with countless moments captured for you guys to cherish for years to come. I turned my hobby, my passion, into a feasible business venture thanks to YOU.
I would like to take this opportunity, to thank you for every comment, every like and share. Every recommendation and good word put out there, those things make all the difference.
90% of my current clients come from referrals, so I am now considering adding a referral program for all my lovely clients, who help me, a small, local business, make all this happen.
To another awesome year. Even if it’s half as amazing as this year, I will be extremely happy and grateful. x
