Meet Lyla!

Lyla’s mum, Charlotte, contacted me via e-mail at the end of July, to book her daughter’s newborn session which was meant to be happening in September. We exchanged a couple of messages and I was pleased to find out that Charlotte had quite clear idea as to how she’d like her daughter’s photos to look. She had attached a few examples of the photos she had seen on line and liked.

Meet Emile!

Upon reaching 1000 likes on my newborn photography Facebook page, I decided to run a competition, where my followers would tag a mom-to-be, who deserves a free session and a large canvas with her chosen image. The more nominations, the more chances of winning.

15 tips on how to take awesome pictures of your newborn.

I wasn’t always competent with my camera. My love for newborn photography flourished from the failure to satisfy the ambition to take good photos of my newborn daughter. Some of the ones I have taken are so bad, I am too embarrassed to show them to the world, but since you guys are here, and read thus far, I think you should experience the level of “bad” we are talking about, to learn from my mistakes and make sure your photos are better from the outset.

Road trip with a baby under one: survival guide.

This summer has been different. On some levels it’s been the same as most of our summers: we went for two European road trips, with next to no planning and no hotels pre-booked. But there was one detail that changed it all for us this year. We were now travelling with a baby under one year old.

Meet Venice!

This is my first post in the “session series”. I will be letting you in on the details of what happens during selected shoots. Who better to kick start the series than little Venice, the winner of our recent competition!

Big bow? It’s a no; why I photograph newborns mostly naked.

You may have come across a lot of colourful, fancy photo props when researching newborn poses prior to your session (yup, most of us have a Pinterest board with cute baby photo ideas). Whether we’ve got a professional newborn photography session booked or not, most of us want to take our own baby photos as well. There is nothing wrong with that. We capture moments that are going to have a meaning for us on a personal level, and that’s great. Sometimes we want to take funny pics, so we buy fancy newborn outfits with quotes printed on them. Sometimes we buy big, fluffy hats and crocheted pants, and there is nothing wrong with that either. There is time and place for everything. Well, almost everything.
