Your photographer is ill: a quick guide on how not to react.

The subject of sessions rescheduled due to illness is popping in photography forums quite often. I am very fortunate never having to cancel due to being unwell (it’s pot luck, not some magical vit C fuelled diet), so I have never been on the receiving end of client’s grief caused by it, but having heard enough complaints addressed towards my fellow photographers, I would like to make a statement on the matter.

The curse of a single baby.

I have been meaning to write this post for ages, but things always got in the way, so I have taken a week off work to catch up on life, but I think I need to get it out of my system first, before all the things on my to-do list get in the way. I am a mother of a single baby, and this is where it ends. How do I feel about it?

Welcome to Dinky Feet Photography!

For those of you who joined the tribe recently, maybe consider a session for yourself or your loved ones, here is what we do and how we do it! At the end of July, we had the amazing Natasha Sibley visit us to record a quick promo video, and some behind the scenes footage from a few sessions. I hope this gives you guys a little insight into the sessions, the process, a bit of a glimpse around the studio and hopefully encourage you to stop by and say hi. If you would like to capture your family now, before they grow big and independent, get married and have offsprings of their own, drop us a line. We specialise in maternity, newborn and baby photography, but the most favourite will always be capturing memories for families of all shapes and sizes. Never be afraid of bringing your children to us, we fear no age. We hope you enjoy this little snippet and we’ll see you soon for the full experience! <3

The gift for my daughter.

There is nothing more boring than listening about other people’s kids. Let’s face it. It’s brain numbing. Everyone thinks theirs are smarter, faster, develop better and use their brain more. And in some cases this may be true but on a whole, the subject of other people’s children is as exciting as a smell of a cheap cologne or rendition of Michael BublĂ© songs. So why the non catchy title?

A Man’s Guide to Nailing Mother’s Day.

Another year, another bunch of flowers. And by no means are flowers bad, but you can do better. Things get taken for granted, petrol station flowers become a default. She complains to her girlfriends about the lack of thought you put into the fact she’s bringing up your little humans. Girlfriends tell her it’s not on. She starts to think they are right. You come home a day after the Mother’s Day and get a tirade of abuse, but you cannot puzzle why and what it is you’ve done wrong. You blame it on some shit like PMS. Things get swept under the carpet after a couple of days and life goes on. Mehness and vanilla days take over, and she’s fine now. Till next year.

The first day of the rest of your life.

“Hi Maggie, we came for a newborn session with you a while back. Me and my husband are currently getting divorced. Is there any way you could photoshop him out of our family photo?” This blog post was on my mind for ages, but I never felt quite qualified to write it. I am a photographer. I am not a councillor or a shrink. As a divorcee, I am probably not the best person to go all high almighty on how a good relationship should work, but here’s the thing.. Every day I see the same thing happen to more and more of my friends. They go through hell, they want to leave then they justify staying with someone that no longer fulfils them, makes them happy and most of all, someone who no longer respects them. They do this “for the kids”, assuming this is the thing that should be done for the greater good. Time could not have been better from a personal perspective to throw my two pence. I see around 200 happy couples each year. We want to believe it’s forever. We may or may not have had a big, white wedding to put a stamp […]
