Photographer of the year awards!

Last month I had the pleasure of being a finalist at the Photographer of the Year competition at the Newborn Photography Show in Coventry. What an awesome couple of days it was!

Happy 1st Birthday to us!

This time last year I posted on my Facebook a small, shy, status update, asking whether anyone knows of any expecting mums or any newborn babies that were born very recently. I was fresh from my training with Russ Jackson, and I felt ready to take my hobby to the next level. I wanted to become a professional newborn photographer.

Having kids? Darling, it’s going to be a walk in the park.

I wrote this blog post when pregnant with my first baby: Eva. It only made it to my personal blog, and I stumbled upon it today (my little one is 1.5 years old now). It was originally dedicated to my husband, who couldn’t wait to prove me wrong and show me how hard parenting can be. It’s only partially a tongue-in-cheek bit. Half of those thoughts are my actual beliefs from 2014. Enjoy.

Hotel Utopia

I love the idea of a glass of a wine and putting your feet up after a long day. In winter it would be a cup of cocoa and some cookies, whilst snuggled up with your other half / your cat / dog / magazine, you name it. Relaxing sounds lovely, except for a small detail. Since having a baby, somehow I have lost the ability to relax. Come to think of it, it’s quite possible I’ve never possessed it.

2 newborn photographers that inspire me

Just like with every profession, there are people out there that will inspire your work, make you want to say: “wow” and give you goosebumps. Newborn photography is not any different, so today I’d like to share with you two of my favourite newborn photographers that inspire me. There are many more, but these two are very different, with distinctive style and masses of followers. They are artists, capturing those precious first moments of babies lives and freezing them for us forever. It’s utterly selfish to keep them all to myself, so I decided to let you into their world, to be amazed and fall in love with their creations.

Can you spoil a baby?

Our daughter is one year old! After what seemed to be the longest year of our lives, we decided it’s time for a break. My lovely parents volunteered to move into our house for two weeks, to look after our kids whilst we jetted off to a better, more peaceful, less sleep deprived place. Then we got THE phone call.
